Embracing Growth and Challenge in the Creative Industry

As a creative, I embrace new challenges and opportunities to avoid complacency, drive continuous growth, and keep my passion and creativity alive.

As a creative, I constantly grapple with the fear of becoming complacent. This fear drives me to keep moving from one project to the next. I worry that staying too comfortable might make me lazy or hinder my learning.

That’s why I often find myself saying yes to the most random opportunities that come my way. And honestly, 99% of the time, I don't regret it. History shows that humans make their biggest leaps under high-pressure situations. This is why many creatives, including myself, set self-imposed deadlines for both client and personal projects. It’s a way to keep the pressure on and ensure continuous growth. Recently, I've been applying to various institutions to further my design education through residencies, degrees, or fellowships. Each application asks the same question: "Why do you want to take this step?" My answer is consistent: I thrive in new environments and experiences that require me to develop new skills to stay ahead of the curve.

The creative industry is fantastic because there’s always so much to learn and share with others. Embracing new challenges and opportunities is what keeps the passion alive and the creativity flowing. Here's to always pushing boundaries and never settling for complacency.
